Your work stays yours
You keep the rights you hold in your code and assets. You are responsible for what you upload and publish. Only share material you own or have permission to use, and keep required notices. You are responsible for maintaining your apps and assets, fixing problems and keeping your own backups. Hosting your work does not make Apt Pub its author or maintainer.
You allow Apt Pub and its providers to store, copy, compile, run and review your work to operate and protect the service. Public apps can be run by others and shown in our listing. This permission is worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty-free; it does not cover unrelated uses. It ends when we remove the work, except for necessary backup or legal records. Separate rights already granted to others still apply.
Coding with AI
AI coding tools are welcome here. They can make mistakes, so review and test what they produce. You remain responsible for the code and assets you publish, whether made by you, AI or both. Follow your AI provider’s terms and respect any third-party rights.
Public source and forking
Public source lets anyone browse the shared release’s code and assets. Signed-in users can fork that release into their own app. Unpublished changes are not shared.
By enabling Public source, you grant Apt Pub and its users worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display and copy that release through these features. You must have the rights to grant this permission. Broader uses, including modification, redistribution and sale, depend on the applicable licences.
Each fork includes the release’s licence and existing notices. Read them before forking and follow their terms. We record the licence you accept, but do not guarantee the author owns the work or can license it.
Authors are responsible for the licences they publish. Users are responsible for following them. Apt Pub does not verify licences, monitor compliance or undertake to enforce licences on anyone’s behalf.
We do not provide legal advice, mediate disputes or represent either party. We may restrict or remove content following a complaint or legal requirement.
Where lawful, we may choose to provide records we hold. We do not guarantee that particular records will be available. This does not limit any legal obligation to preserve or disclose information.
Switching Public source off blocks new source views and forks here; it does not remove existing copies. Changing a licence does not rewrite earlier releases or withdraw rights already granted under MIT.
Using apps
Creators are responsible for their apps. Approval is permission to publish, not an endorsement, security audit or guarantee of safety, accuracy or legality. Restricted server environments reduce risks; they do not remove them.
Check the SSH fingerprint and commands you run, keep your terminal updated and verify important results. Do not rely on apps for emergencies or professional advice. SSH encrypts the connection, but the app and our servers process your input: do not send secrets or sensitive information.
A few ground rules
You must be 18 or older and able to enter this agreement. These terms cover the website, API and SSH service, with or without an account. Protect your sign-in details.
Do not use Apt Pub to break the law, infringe rights, expose private information, deceive or harass people, spread malware, attack systems or exhaust shared resources. Pornography, sexual exploitation, terrorist content and threats are not allowed. Do not hide harmful behaviour during review.
Apps collecting other people’s personal information need privacy and security arrangements agreed with us first.
Your information
- Accounts and projects: username, email, profile, code, assets, releases and licence records let us provide and manage the service.
- Connections: IP addresses, requests, timestamps, browser information, errors and resource usage help us operate the service and handle abuse. SSH logs currently include command arguments. Apps also process what you type, paste or pipe into them.
- Contact messages: we use your name, email, optional company, subject and message to handle your enquiry. Signed-in messages also include your username and account email. Messages are sent through our email providers and kept in our support mailbox.
We use this information to provide requested services under our agreement, pursue legitimate interests in security, reliability and support, and meet legal obligations. We must balance those interests against your rights. We do not sell personal information or currently make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Who can access it?
Public content is visible worldwide. Authorised administrators and service providers can access information needed to run the service, provide support or address abuse and legal requirements.
We use cloud hosting, sign-in and email providers to operate Apt Pub. They may process information outside the UK.
Your choices and rights
Contact us to request account deletion, access, correction or a portable copy of your personal information, or to restrict or object to its use where applicable. We may check your identity and normally respond within one month. You can withdraw consent for any use relying on it without affecting earlier lawful use.
We keep information while needed for the service, support or legal obligations. Backups, logs and dispute records may remain after deletion; existing forks and public copies cannot be recalled.
Problems and changes
Contact us about an app, security or rights concern. Include the app name or ID. We may suspend or remove apps, assets or accounts at any time to address breaches of these terms, legal requirements or operational needs, including resource limits and service closure. You can contact us to ask for a review.
Apt Pub is a free, shared hosting service. Apps and assets share infrastructure and resources with other users. We do not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted access or permanent storage. Apps may become unavailable and data may be lost. Keep copies outside Apt Pub; do not rely on it as your only backup or for essential services.
We may change or remove features, introduce or adjust usage limits, or end hosting to manage costs, capacity, security, legal requirements or technical changes. Limits may cover storage, builds, running apps and connections. Changes to the free service, including removals and limits, may take effect without advance notice unless the law requires otherwise. You can stop using the service at any time.
There are currently no paid services. If we introduce paid features, including making free features paid, we will offer them under separate terms. You will not be charged without your agreement.
Creators’ obligations remain theirs, but we remain responsible for our own acts or omissions where the law requires. Where lawful, we exclude unforeseeable and business losses. Nothing excludes fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability and consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
